I went for an autumn vacation in Nikko, Japan, which was a popular destination near Tokyo. It had plenty of nature and since I went in mid-October, some of the areas already featured beautiful autumn colours.
I spent 2 days exploring the popular sightseeing spots around Nikko, such as the famous Kegon falls, scenic Lake Chuzenji and the shrines and temples in the Nikko Heritage Area.
I stayed 3 nights at Utsunomiya City and took day trips to Nikko, which was just 45 mins away by local train. Utsunomiya was also popular for its gyoza and commonly known as the gyoza capital of Japan.
